Jory Harms is a California based artist whose work focuses on the political and social constructs of gender in our society. Through the use of mixed media installation, sculpture and performance, he is challenging the current societal sentiment with regards to gender identity norms.
His work engages with the viewer with the intention of communal participation. He asks that he learn from you as you learn from him in order to develop empathy and understanding that enables us to open our minds and view the world from an alternate perspective.
Harms received his BFA in visual art from the University of Kansas. He is currently living in Chico, CA and working towards his MFA in sculpture at California State University.
